About
17-year-old college freshman in Boston University’s Accelerated Seven Year Medical Program.
I am excited to be part of Boston University’s Class of 2023 and subsequently Boston University School of Medicine’s Class of 2026!
I live my life by Gandhi’s famous words to “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Each day, I use the Power of CALM – Collaboration, Advocacy, Leadership, and Marketing – to achieve my goals. I hope to embody the power of youth to make an impact in their community through my civic engagement and dedication to joining the medical field.
I care deeply about serving my Ashland community and have galvanized my peers by founding a community service and leadership club called ‘Breaking the Barriers’ at Ashland High School. I served as the BTB’s President since its founding in 2016 until graduating with the goal of inspiring youth to become leaders of today through service. One of the service initiatives I developed is Project 133, a food transport system between local restaurants and homeless shelters to prevent food waste and feed the homeless. As a positive role model, I encourage my peers to make positive choices and serve as youth sector holder for the youth substance abuse prevention coalition, Decisions at Every Turn. Furthermore, I served my school community as National Honor Society Community Service Coordinator, Junior Statesmen of America Secretary, Site Council Secretary, Student Ambassador, Peer Leader, and Principal’s Advisory Committee member. I was honored to receive Student of the Term for Involvement and the coveted Dean’s Award for my work in the Ashland High School community.
16 YEARS IN 16 MINUTES (About Me 2018!)
Outside of school, I am a competitive dancer and was Co-Chair for the Foundation for MetroWest Junior Board and Strike intern for the nonprofit Hammer & Chisel. I have spent extensive time shadowing doctors, which led me to write my own research paper while interning in the Sarcoma department at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Over the summer of 2019, I also had the invaluable experience of working as a doctor’s assistant and setting up the practice’s first electronic medical record (EMR) system for pediatric dermatologist Dr. Lisa Shen at Kuchnir Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. My passion for helping others extends outside of the MetroWest community as, over the course of 2 trips, I have spent a total of 1.5 months in South Africa teaching impoverished children, feeding & clothing the homeless, and raising health care funds for underprivileged elders.
These experiences have helped me claim accolades, such as Massachusetts Governor Baker’s Citation as Young Philanthropist of the Year (2018) and the International Association of Kerala Medical Graduates’ Youth Icon Award (2018). After college, I plan to meld my passion for service and science together with a career in medicine.
